Founded in 1984 with the specific objective of investing internationally, Advent raised both the industry's first global fund (1987) and the first integrated pan-European fund (1989). GPE V is the most recent in a series of successful international mid-market programs managed by Advent. GPE V's predecessor, GPE IV, was a €2.1 billion ($1.9 billion) buyout fund raised in 2001.
